		<description>The time definitely varies, though many sources now are putting ground spices around 1-2 years...however, the major issue is that you do not know how long your bottle of paprika sat at a warehouse or on a grocery shelf. 

The best indication is the &quot;Shake and Sniff&quot; test, if a spice still smells potent, then it should still have a good flavor. Fortunately, spices do not rot or grow harmful bacteria or microbes, so after a spice has lost potency you may just need to use a little more for it to be effective.</description>
